Abstract
A new class of double salient motor, namely, the flux switching motor was presented in this paper. This motor offers unique advantages of low cost, high power density, relative low level vibration and acoustic noise. In this paper, mathematical model for FSM corresponding to series connected circuit was established, a comprehensive time-stepping finite element (TSFE) model including external control circuit was developed and utilized to performance analysis. Finally, a prototype 8/4 pole FSM was designed and the experiment was done.
