Abstract

Lightning incidents happened due to very high current and in short duration of time. Lightning can cause injuries to human through mechanisms such as direct strike, side flash, touch voltage and step voltage. Alternative Transient Program (ATP) software was implemented to simulate the modelling and analysis of direct lightning strike to the human body. Three human body model were created according to different conditions of the human body such as normal weight of human body, overweight human body and human with one metal leg in it. The resistance values of human body in each model were different according to different parts of human body. The project shows the different human body model can be simulated by injecting lightning strike current at different parts of human body which cannot be implemented in real experiment. Results show that human with metal leg has higher potential difference compared to human with normal weight and human with overweight.
