Abstract

This chapter provides an automated, model-based, real-time whole building performance monitoring and energy diagnostics system. However, the scale of building operational data transfer and storage, simulation environment, diagnostic module and visualization module in the proposed system is different from those in the current ABCAT version. An automated, model-based, real-time whole building performance monitoring and energy diagnostics system is presented in this chapter. To perform energy diagnostics, data mining and model-based estimation approaches were used to provide energy anomaly detection. The current state-of-the-art energy management and control systems provide facility managers with a rich set of building data. The implementation of the proposed system greatly depends on the existing building control system communication capability. The Data Diagnostic tool applies data mining and anomaly detection methods to identify building faults using building measurements and building reference model predictions data stored in the DB. A first-generation, real-time, whole-building energy performance monitoring and diagnostics tool has been developed and demonstrated in a real building.
