Abstract

Two model testing techniques are described that complement the usual conjoint measurement tests. The methods are demonstrated by modeling how tradeoffs are made between price and quality in choosing a hypothetical restaurant. Results from a convenience sample show that a subtractive, and not a ratio, model can represent the data.
