Abstract

An “ecological world view” is proposed as a new philosophy or a guiding principle to design the future Japan. A simulation research to estimate relations between a policy and corresponding results is carried out. The ecological policy is evaluated in comparison with other alternatives. Results show that ecologically Japan has already reached the limit to growth and the conversion into nature oriented Japan is not impossible. An outline of information systems developed to support studies of environmental science also are presented.
