Abstract

A reduced-order design method for 2D separable Roesser model is studied by using singular perturbation theory. First, after 2D singularly perturbed Roesser model has been formulated, the boundary layer method for 2D systems is proposed, and an iterative algorithm of calculating the approximate solutions based on reduced-order models is given. Second, on the basis of the fact that a 2D separable Roesser model can be decomposed into two ID models, an alternative reduced-order design method is investigated. Finally, two design examples of 2D separable IIR digital filters are given to verify the usefulness of these methods.
