Abstract
AbstractPoly(1,4‐phenylenevinylene) was obtained by reacting dibromoarenes with ethylene in a palladium‐catalyzed reaction. Defects of the polymer structure were elucidated by model reactions. Side reactions in the reaction of halogenated arenes and ethylene or styrene, catalyzed by Pd, could be minimized by low catalyst concentrations and low reaction temperatures. The Pdcatalyzed reaction of aroyl chlorides with ethylene or styrene was probed by model reactions.
