Abstract

Elastic scattering of electrons by helium atoms has been investigated using a model potential approach. The present model potential contains static, adiabatic polarisation and distortion potentials. A model exchange potential coupled with the orthogonality constraint for l=0 has been employed to take account of the Pauli principle. The scattering parameters have been obtained in the energy range 2-19 eV. The present results are in good agreement with measured values and other theoretical estimates.
