Abstract

The generalized Schrödinger equation with a new form of arbitrary refractive indices for the description of propagation pulse in an optical fiber is considered. Exact solutions of the equation are looked for taking into account the traveling wave reduction. The transformations of variables are used for finding periodic and solitary wave solutions of nonlinear differential equations via the elliptic and exponential functions. Solitary wave solutions are found using two variants of the simplest equation method.
