Abstract

The present paper introduces a model law on judicial service commissions. The model law (which itself is accompanied by explanatory notes) was drafted in accordance with instructions given at four regional consultative meetings attended by senior judges and organised by the Secretariat. The paper summarises the provisions of the model law relating to judicial appointments, discipline and removal from office. It further explains how the model law might be used.
