Abstract

A general formula to correlate two electron velocity distributions (viz. a Dory-Guest-Harris and a bi-Maxwellian with a cutoff at the loss-cone boundary) used to model mirror-confined plasmas is derived. The limitations of the Dory-Guest-Harris distribution to describe mirror-confined plasmas are also discussed.
