Abstract

Energy management simulation is a very important aspect on the planning of new hybrid and electric vehicles. In this paper a simulation approach based on Matlab Simulink considering road and vehicle dynamics it is applied to the simulation of an Urban Bus. The objective of the control strategy implemented is the subdivision of energy sources to guarantee propulsion and operation of vehicle's auxiliary systems. We realized the control using if-then rules considering the dynamic of every single component of the vehicle. The attention is then mainly focused on the driving cycles analysis in order to evaluate in an efficient way the performance of the vehicle during an actual mission profile.
