Abstract

The problem of hazardous waste location-routing simultaneously determines for opening treatment and disposal centers, the technology to be used and the capacity, and routing of different types of hazardous waste and waste residue from generation nodes to treatment or disposal centers and from treatment centers to disposal centers respectively. Based on the current literature reviews and taking cost and risk as objectives, a multi-objective 0–1 mixed integer programming model was proposed for this problem, which specially consideration to the diversity of waste types and treatment technologies, waste-technology compatibility and the capacity of treatment and disposal centers with surplus degree as constraints. Percentage normalization technique was adopted to overcome incommensurability of the cost and risk objective measured in different units, one goal programming based algorithm which could be handled by several modern commercial optimization software was designed to solve this problem.
