Abstract

Spectral changes occurring in light propagation from partially coherent sources are investigated by using the coherent-mode representation. For a particular class of sources the changes in the spectra of single coherent modes are evaluated, and subsequently the modes are combined to examine the spectra of the fields that the sources generate. Results are presented for observation points in the far zone as well as for observation points that are close to the source.
