Abstract

The finite element method was used to analysis the natural frequencies of the carbon fibre-reinforced plastic tube and carbon fibre reinforced plastic shaft with steel joints, respectively, which showed that there was a remarkable difference between the two results. The difference indicated that the steel joints had influence on carbon fibre reinforced plastic shaft's modes and natural frequencies, and they should be considered in the carbon fibre reinforced plastic shaft dynamic properties. A modal test system was constructed to perform the carbon fibre reinforced plastic shaft specimen's natural frequency measurement through impact technique. The measured natural frequencies and the finite element method calculated measured natural frequencies showed a basic consistency.
