Abstract

chosis can be—at least—deferred in individuals experiencing ARMS in a significant proportion of cases using novel antipsychotics plus psychosocial treatment. This constitutes prevalence reduction. Even if psychosis does occur, the duration of untreated psychosis in which the major burden of psychosocial disruption manifests is minimized. The PACE model helps to reduce comorbidity and avoids long hospital admissions. Some cases of psychosis may be averted resulting in incidence reduction but further follow–up is required.
