Abstract
Radiochemical methods have been used to study magnesium ion movements in the synthetic faujasites X and 2.62-Y as well as in zeolite A. Characterization of the magnesium exchanged forms of the zeolites has been carried out. Self-diffusion parameters measured have been compared to those of the other alkaline earths and to those of transitional elements where appropriate. Conclusions have been made as to likely mechanisms for the observed magnesium ion migrations.
