Abstract

The inherent features of the vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) make it challenging to achieve efficient data delivery. As a new data-centric communication paradigm, the named data networking (NDN) may help to enhance the efficiency of data retrieval in VANET, namely vehicular NDN (VNDN). However, in VNDN, vehicles assume roles of providers, content routers, and consumers, and high mobility leads to frequent reverse-path disruptions and location changes of providers and consumers. This ultimately causes frequent failures of vehicular data delivery. In this letter, we propose a mobility management framework in VNDN to address the reverse-path disruption issue and the provider and consumer mobility support issues. The simulation results show that this framework effectively improves the success rates of data delivery.
