Abstract

The General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) has become a standard to extend the services provided by the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM). The GPRS quickly penetrates into everyday life and the 24-hour always-on feature changes the user life. It also facilitates the new opportunity to understand the user behaviors. In this paper we present some observations of the GPRS, by disposing monitoring and analysis system at the Gn interface of real operational GPRS network. By analyzing the characteristics of the data, such as login time, logout time, delay of transmission and user attributes, the author provided a basis analysis of regular user behaviors using user attribute pattern clustering. From this observation, the time-of-day behavior gives better indication of mobile user behaviors in GPRS network.
