Abstract

Abstract In modern agriculture, remote and intelligent automatic irrigation control over water and fertilizer is urgently needed in the drip irrigation system. But the execution of the irrigation remote control system is difficult in view of the vast irrigation area with varied topography and dispersed controlling and measuring points. With the popularization of the current mobile communication network, an implementation method for the mobile short message remote control irrigation system is put forward in this paper. The proposed system is based on the SMS (Short Messaging Service) in the mobile communication network, and takes advantages of message content dividing algorithm, frequency calculation and subject extraction algorithm to process the received remote control information. Then binary commands for the terminal units are generated by the system to perform irrigation control or state inquiry. The information to be fed back is firstly processed into PDU strings conforming to the format of SMS, and then transmitted to the user by a wireless transmission module through mobile communication network to display both the executing state in the field and the inquiry results of the system. Moreover, this system has self-learning and re-learning abilities. Its practical application in the agricultural demonstrative base shows that this system possesses such advantages as smoothness in running, convenience in operation and low cost in use, and can be popularized for large area applications.
