Abstract

Whether we want it or not, users are continuing to embrace the trend towards more mobile computing. The infrastructure for a truly mobile work culture has finally arrived. WiFi is available in coffee shops, hotels, campgrounds, and airports. 3G cellular networks offer megabit speeds in many major metropolitan centres. Many laptops now have not just integrated WiFi capability but also integrated cellular radios to allow access to global cellular networks. Embedded devices such as RIM's Blackberry and Apple's iPhone provide nearly all the utility of a general purpose PC without the bulk.
