Abstract

Effective, safe, and minimally invasive therapies are needed for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes and obesity. Surgical or endoscopic bypass of the proximal small intestines improves glycemic control and contributes to weight loss by stimulating the enteroinsular system. We designed and evaluated a novel duodenal-jejunal bypass liner (DJBL) that anchors atraumatically across the pylorus, and is easily delivered / retrieved endoscopically using a novel system that minimizes trauma to the gastrointestinal tract. Multiple iterations of the implant and delivery and removal devices were evaluated.
