Abstract

Plastic stents are commonly used to treat biliary pathologies but have disadvantaged short patency rates. The Wing stent was engineered to overcome this problem. With its unique winged shape design, bile is channeled along the exterior of the stent which theoretically reduces the risk of occlusion. The aim of this study is to compare rate of unscheduled events (symptomatic early occlusion) of Wing stents to that of conventional plastic stents.
