Abstract

EUS-FNA can provide a pre-operative cytological diagnosis of pNETs and also suggestions about their biological behavior. In particular, a measure of Ki-67 expression on cytological specimens obtained by EUS-FNA is feasible, but it is unclear how this measure reflects the value of Ki-67 expression found on surgical specimens. Our aims are: to report our single center experience in diagnosis of pNETs by means of EUS-FNA; to describe the feasibility of measurement of Ki-67 expression on cytological samples; to evaluate its accuracy if compared with the Ki-67 expression on resected specimens, in order to assess if the EUS-FNA results alone can guide the clinical management of patients that will not undergo surgery.
