Abstract

Placement of double pigtail plastic stents, with limited lumen size, for endoscopic pancreatic pseudocyst (PP) drainage requires repeat wire access of the cystenterostomy after initial stent deployment. Conventional covered self-expanding metal stents (CSEMS) are larger in diameter and permit single-step insertion but carry a risk for stent migration. Our objective was to compare metal vs plastic in PP drainage in terms of outcomes, success rate and number of sessions.
