Abstract

Endoscopic resection has become treatment of choice for early gastric cancer in the East. Several Asian studies showed that endoscopic therapy offers comparable long-term outcomes to surgical resection with fewer complications. Over the past decade, endoscopic therapy has increasing be adopted for gastric neoplasia in the Western countries. However, there have been no US population-based studies to compare long-term outcomes of patients that received these treatments. In this study, we used a large national cancer database to evaluate the outcomes of patients with early gastric cancer who underwent endoscopic therapy or surgery.
