Abstract

N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is a mucolytic agent, and NAC solution has been used to improve visibility during upper gastrointestinal (UGI) endoscopy. On the other hand, NAC capsule may leave a residue in the esophagus and interfere clear mucosal visualization (Figure 1,2). This study aimed to assess the frequency of esophageal retention of residue from NAC capsule during UGI endoscopy.
