Abstract

The effect of mnemonic (associative) structure in free recall was studied. In particular the effect of this variable on long-term store (LTS) as opposed to short-term store (STS) was determined. The effects on STS and LTS were separated by the use of postlist delay tasks. It was found that the effect of associative structure was solely on LTS.
