Abstract

Transendothelial migration of graft infiltrating leucocytes seems to play a pivotal role not only in the destruction of the graft but also in the activation of endothelial and smooth muscle cells, leading to the migration and proliferation of VSMC from media to intima. These events cause chronic rejection. Purpose of the study was to evaluate graft infiltrating leucocytes (CD4, CD8, CD11a, CD18) after cardiac transplantation in rats under immunosuppressive therapy.
