Abstract
Recently, new test cases and associated measures have been proposed in the literature to evaluate the mixing and filament preservation properties of transport schemes on the sphere. In this Note, we evaluate the performance of SLICE and a semi-Lagrangian scheme with a new conservative correction using these tests and diagnostics. The results show that, based on these measures, both schemes considered here perform well and produce results comparable to some results in the literature. However, SLICE outperforms other schemes for some measures.
