Abstract

Thermodynamic properties of the liquid Au-Ga-In alloys have not been studied yet. Hence, the partial and integral mixing enthalpies of liquid phase in the Au-Ga-In ternary system were determined by applying drop calorimetry. Measurements were carried out at three temperatures: 1223 K, 1323 K and 1423 K, and along two cross-sections: XAu/XGa = 1:1 and XGa/XIn = 1:1. The experimental data showed that the mixing enthalpy in this ternary system is not temperature dependent. The integral enthalpy of mixing for liquid Au-Ga-In phase was described by using the Redlich-Kister-Muggianu model for substitutional ternary solutions.
