Abstract

Numerical analysis of turbulent jets is reported. Effect of various parameter s on the characteristics of two -dimensional turbulent plane parallel jets is i nvestigated. The em phasis is put on the effect of the nozzle width on the location merging and the combining points . The flow field under consideration is a two parallel plane jets issued from plane wall . Effects of nozzle width “a”, nozzle spacing (D/a) and nozzle exit velocity (U) on both merging and combining points are investigated using a finite volume CFD code. Seven values of D/a and four values of the nozzle width are used. Also, nine different jet velocities have been examined corresponding to Reynolds number of 8,000 to 36,000. It is noted that the ratio D/a and the nozzle width linearly affect the location of the merging and the combining points, while velocity plays no role in their location.
