Abstract
Abstract We briefly review the results obtained by three classes of neutron scattering experiments on mixed-valence compounds: induced moment form factors, paramagnetic spectra, and phonon dispersion curves. Whenever appropriate, the results are compared to those obtained on dense Kondo and heavy-fermion compounds, two classes of materials closely related to the mixed-valence compounds. Future directions for research in these areas are indicated.
