Abstract

Review of the latest developments in the theory of anisotropic pinning by a set of plane defects is presented. It is shown that unidirected twins, oriented at arbitrary angle with respect to the current direction, can strongly affect the vortex dynamics. New current- and angle-dependent ”guiding” effects and scaling of the anisotropic Hall conductivity are discussed. The analysis of the recent experimental observations of new galvanothermomagnetic effects in YBa 2Cu 3O 7− δ single crystals with unidirected twins is given and several new experiments in the field are proposed.
