Abstract

A 19-year-old woman was referred to treat a venous malformation located in the inferior left lip with aesthetic and functional claim. Through clinical exam, a bluish-purple lesion with 40 mm of diameter was observed without pulsatile signal. A duplex-scan was requested to evaluate the lesion extension. The proposed treatment was sclerotherapy with ethanolamine oleate (EO) 5%. The foam technique was performed in 2 sessions with 15 days between them. In the first session, 4 ml EO foam was used. In the second session, it was possible to observe a clinical size reduction by 50%, and an additional 2 ml EO FOAM was applied. After 15 days, a small residual lesion was observed, and a new application of 0.3 ml EO pure was necessary. A clinical cure was achieved after 3 sessions (2 foam and 1 pure). Twenty months of follow-up showed no complaints and no sign of recurrence.
