Abstract
We have synthesized and characterized mixed oxides of various compositions which are excellent precursors for the preparation of cathode materials for lithium ion batteries. The materials consist of mixed oxide nanoparticles about 2 nm in size, stabilized in a hydrocarbon matrix. We describe the fabrication of such materials and present transmission and scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction data for them and their basic electrochemical characteristics.
