Abstract

In this issue of The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, Fattouch and colleagues1 address a highly controversial matter that is as complex as it is multifactorial: the effect of ischemic mitral valve repair at the time of coronary revascularization. Their prospective randomized trial, albeit not devoid of important limitations, favors concomitant ring annuloplasty vs revascularization alone in terms of 10-year postoperative freedom from adverse events and left ventricular remodeling.
