Abstract

AbstractA radioautographic study of the pseudoapical epidermal ridge, after tritiated thymidine labelling, shows that basal cells do not incorporate this precursor to DNA synthesis. The results conform with the low mitotic activity of this structure after vinblastine treatment, and point to a special metabolism of these cells, probably associated with their involvement in actinotrichial development.
