Mitigation and power quality enhancement using UPQC

Abstract

Power quality issue is the major technical problem in micro grids. The application of power electronic devices in micro grid may create various power quality issues. (like Swell/harmonics /sag etc.,). To overcome this power quality issues, Custom power devices have been introduced. Among those, UPQC is considered as a unique device for power quality problems. This work proposes a UPQC control over the transmission line. The efficacy of this proposed UPQC is studied under different PQ issues using MATLAB software. From the achieved results, it is confirmed that the proposed UPQC has higher efficiency in mitigating power quality issues.
