Abstract

Functional interlayers play key role in many areas, such as separation and energy storage system, due to their superior adsorption ability. Lithium-sulfur batteries suffer from severe capacity fading during the discharging and charging process, which is caused by the polysulfide diffusion between the cathode and anode side. Therefore, to achieve high electrochemical performance lithium-sulfur batteries, the severe polysulfide diffusion must be mitigated efficiently. Herein, we designed a kind of functional manganese dioxide nanofiber interlayer and used in the lithium-sulfur batteries between the cathode and separator. The electrochemical results indicated that the lithium-sulfur batteries with MO interlayer delivered high specific capacity and stable cycling performance. This is attributed to the strong inhibition for soluble polysulfide by using the functional MO interlayer.
