Abstract
Mitchellania snideri sp. n. is described from South Carolina, USA. The absence of spines on head and the postantennal organ with anterior lobes surrounding accessory boss place a new species near M. vulgaris (Yosii, 1960) and M. alani Babenko, 1994 from which it differs in body colour, character of tegumentary granulation, a shape of the apical vesicle on antennal segment IV, a shape of sensilla m7 on thoracic tergum II and a size of the anal spines. Remarks on Mitchellania Wray, 1953 taxonomy and distribution were also provided. (© 2007 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
