Abstract

Latino students are noticeably underrepresented in post-secondary education. Their inability to access critical information about educational opportunities has resulted in low numbers of students gaining admission to colleges and universities, particularly 4-year institutions. The lack of preparation and support in their journey to earn a college degree can prove to be a challenging one given their academic histories. The educational opportunity program described here serves students who meet one or more of these factors: 1st-generation college students, low-income, demographically underrepresented, and identified as having the need for additional academic support services for college level work.
