Abstract

Cardiac haemangiomas (CH) constitute 2.8% of primary cardiac tumours [ [1] Li W, Teng P, Xu H, Ma L, Ni Y. Cardiac Haemangioma; A comprehensive analysis of 200 cases. Ann Thorac Surg. 2015;99:2246–52. Google Scholar ]. Right atrial (RA) CHs are very rare. Despite being benign lesions, they may result in life-threatening complications including stroke and sudden death [ [1] Li W, Teng P, Xu H, Ma L, Ni Y. Cardiac Haemangioma; A comprehensive analysis of 200 cases. Ann Thorac Surg. 2015;99:2246–52. Google Scholar ]. Although advances in imaging have provided insight into this condition, preoperative misdiagnosis is common. Diagnosis and management of CH is limited by the scarcity of evidence. Surgical excision remains the standard of care [ [1] Li W, Teng P, Xu H, Ma L, Ni Y. Cardiac Haemangioma; A comprehensive analysis of 200 cases. Ann Thorac Surg. 2015;99:2246–52. Google Scholar ].
