Abstract

Objective To make clinical doctors better understanding of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma(NHL) and reduce the misdiagnosis of NHL at an earlier stage. Methods Retrospective analysis of clinical features in 80 patients with NHL, who had been misdiagnosed as other diseases at first and latterly been confirmed as NHL by pathological study. The reasons for misdiagnosis and the symptoms of the disease were analyzed and reviewed. Results Eighty patients with NHL who had been misdiagnosed as other diseases are separately hospitalized in the E. N. T. department (20 cases ), the general surgery ( 19cases), gastroenterology ( 8 cases ), the department of respiratory medicine ( 5 cases ), the department of cerebral surgery ( 3 cases), the thoracic surgery department ( 3 cases), the urologic surgery ( 2 cases), orthopedics ( 1 case). Four patients among them because of tumor go to see a doctor at surgical clinic;Only 15 patients go to see a doctor at department of hematology when they just fall sick this rate only reached to 19%. Conclusions The chief reason of misdiagnosis are that lymphoma shows diversified clinical and are misdiagnosed easily at early stages. When most of patients with NHL are diagnosed, has been get into three or four clinical stage. Key words: Lymphoma; Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma; Misdiagnosis
