Abstract

A novel three-element mixed insulation oil is introduced in this chapter. The main parameters of the novel three-element mixed insulation oil meet the IEC standard (60296:2012) for mineral oil. It could delay the aging rate of cellulose paper significantly. The estimated life of cellulose paper immersed with mixed oil can reach about 2.5 times that of cellulose paper impregnated with mineral oil. The mixed oil maintains its good performance throughout the aging process. The new mixed insulation oil has a higher saturated water content than new mineral oil, which is beneficial for its excellent AC breakdown behavior. The AC breakdown and surface flashover voltage of pressboard immersed in mixed insulation oil is also higher than that immersed in mineral oil. The good performance of the novel three-element mixed insulation oil could ensure the safe operation of the old and new 10 kV distribution transformer.
