Abstract

The misalignment angle of the fiber optic gyroscope (FOG) is a significant factor, which results in the angle measurement deviation in practical engineering applications. On the basis of the deviation compensation model we proposed in the previous research, the misalignment angle of the FOG is taken into consideration to optimize the deviation compensation model and a new method to measure the misalignment angle of the FOG is presented. Finally, the experiments on the misalignment angle measurement and angle measurement deviation compensation are carried out based on the prototype, which consists of the FOG and the tilt sensor. The experimental results show that the angle measurement deviation of the FOG can be further reduced by adopting the new method to measure the misalignment angle and applying it to the optimized model. This research will have important application value in the field of angle measurement based on FOG.
