Abstract

Access control is a critical security control that exist in several locations such as operating systems, firewalls, routers, etc. The nature and complexity of details that each one of those access controllers evaluate to make access control differ in details but are are similar in principles. With focus on network-based access controls this paper investigate different mis-configuration access control problems. We developed a tool that can automatically detect and report several types of misconfigurations in Snort rules.
