Abstract

In this article mirror pictorial and compositional capacities on a picture surface and connected with them processes of visual culture and visual way of thinking formation are viewed. Functional characteristics of mirror surface in the context of a piece of art are defi ned. An additional plane of projection multiplying points of perception highlights cognitive aspect of an image. It is noted that in communication process a piece of art containing refl ective surfaces gives to audience the intention to open new reality, underlying space that proposes diff erent meanings but keep a distance.
