Minutes of the 78th Annual Business Meeting

Abstract

President Joseph P. Fontenot called the meeting to order at 8:25 AM on July 31, 1986 immediately following the Elanco-sponsored breakfast and speaker program in the McCain Auditorium, Kansas State University, Manhattan. President Fontenot introduced current officers and directors. Minutes of the 77th Annual Business Meeting were approved as published in the Journal of Animal Science, Volume 61, Number 5, pages 1285–1293. ELECTION RESULTS Irvin T. Omtvedt, Past-President and Chair of the Nominating Committee reported that C. Brent Theurer, University of Arizona, Tucson was elected as President-Elect; Elwyn Miller, Michigan State University, East Lansing as Secretary; Arthur P. Raun (3-year term), Lilly Research Laboratories, New Palestine, Indiana and Robert E. Walton (2-year term), American Breeders Service, DeForest, Wisconsin, as Directors-at-Large by the membership mail ballot (a total of 2,210 ballots were cast). Omtvedt also announced that A. L. Neumann, University of Illinois, Urbana was appointed Treasurer by the Board. HOST INSTITUTION REPORT Don Good, Head of the Animal Sciences Department, and John Wheat, Coordinator for the 1986 Host Institutional Planning Committee, presented a brief history of Kansas State University and the Animal Sciences and Industry Department, as well as information on the livestock industry in the state of Kansas.
