Abstract
Around 95% of all childhood burns and scalds happen at home and most occur during day-to-day situations that many parents do not anticipate, such as children reaching for hot coffee or stepping on hair straighteners ( Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT), 2016 ). This article will focus on managing and treating burns and scalds in children at home; when parents should be advised to attend A&E; and when to call an ambulance.
